Nationwide sample collection
DCR leverages a nationwide network of more than 1,700 sites representing all regions of the country, representing a broad variety of demographic characteristics. This patient population has high rates of clinically interesting events, such as myocardial infarction, stroke and inflammatory diseases. We can customize sample sets to provide data from precisely the patient populations you desire for a broad range of therapeutic areas, and we can do this to your specifications, quickly and efficiently, from a wide network of patients. Because we collect longitudinally you have the opportunity to verify any signals before proceeding with further development.
Highest sample quality
We collect samples from consented patients using IRB-approved protocols. Our uniform collection and processing procedures and training materials have been designed to maximize sample quality, cellular integrity, and reduce artifact. Shipments received are inventoried into our purpose-built biorepository facility with a state-of-the-art LIMS system. Samples are stored in -80°C freezers until required for evaluation and meticulously monitored by our dedicated logistics team and Bio-Tracker, DCR’s unique and fully validated sample management software system. This method of collection and storage provides excellent quality, delivering proteomic-, genomic-, and metabolomic-ready samples with robust RNA and DNA yields.
Unprecedented annotation
DaVita Clinical Research goes well beyond standard annotation, to provide rich data annotation — an informed, longitudinal profile of the specific patient from whom the sample was received (de-identified to maintain full confidentiality and regulatory compliance). In addition to age, gender, and morbidities, DCR provides the following annotations to its samples:
